Cadet Sharepoint Access

Very good to see cadets actually being deliberately allowed SharePoint access to the training hub now! Looks like they’ve got a sidebar button on Cadet Portal to signpost it too.

I wonder whether access to the instructor guides (and maybe answer keys to any of the few things that still need an exam?) is strictly useful, but seems net positive overall…

(Apologies if there’s already a thread for this, I could see plenty from years ago debating if it should be possible, but nothing new post-announcement)

Really? Says access denied to me :joy:

Yeahh I’ve heard that a few times, there is an announcement confirming access should have been provided yesterday (“These sites will be available from 3rd November 2025.”) but there seems to be some teething problems…

Permissions in Sharepoint are notoriously a pain. Even staff access today has been fragmented. Give the team a day or two and they’ll get it sorted.

Working now!

However I do have one question - have they done this for all cadets or just NCOs/MOI qualified cadets? There’s answer schemes for a few qualifications on there that may not be intended for cadets who aren’t in a position to need them.

It’s for everyone.

Access to answer sheets/log books pre-filled etc isn’t really much of an issue. There’s no master sheet for the exams on there, which is the main thing. If cadets want to go and see the ‘perfect’ answers to their first class log book, then so be it.

The permissions will change as things move on. I imagine sooner or later there might be staff vs cadet bits. But then that’ll get complicated as some cadet might need access whilst others don’t. Easier just to give everyone access, as there’s no truly sensitive stuff on there.

Still denies me access when you go further into training hub.

What do you mean by further?

Try and click any specific subject like cyber, you get access denied.

I think that’s to do with what @JoeBloggs said about permissions in SharePoint, quite a few of the others work without issues
