We’ve had some good progress on expanding the Sqn already, at no cost.
We’d been restricted by the fire capacity limit, even though we had enough physical space and a waiting list. The fire capacity limit has been reviewed and almost doubled, so we’ve got plenty of capacity for larger intakes and to grow the Sqn. Our limit now is enough staff attending for the required ratios.

Very similar situation here, I imagine it’s a common theme
All those fire limits that were based on average attendance rather than physical capacity finally being reviewed

yep, I’ve just had the FRA renewal visit this morning and the guy said current limit was just based on average attendance plus a little bit.
I’ve pushed for him to work out actual building capacity this time round and we’ll probably double our max occupancy limit.
To add, I’ve just looked and found that Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service have created an interactive too to estimate your own occupancy limits.
Might be useful for some people to be able to then challenge or request a review.
…& then the final version of the Supervisory Care document will be issued, & you’ll need double the staff, even for your existing numbers!

I wouldn’t be surprised if it has been binned - the optics with loads of cadet force sqns shut has probably pushed this into the too hard to do.
it might be that CCFs remain in 30 by 30 but the rest will get knocked on the head.
It says the £70m plan to expand cadet numbers by 2030 will be ‘slowed down’.
Also forces housing refurb pushed back.

It’s almost like he’s learnt absolutely nothing from the international embarrassment of only having one deployable destroyer and it not quite being ready to deploy.
Looks like some successful lobbying by the Commando Force though, more money and new landing ships (joint with the Dutch)
As good as it is to be getting landing ships, it clearly isn’t more money but money cut from destroyers and frigates.
Risk is everything is now drones just as a few years back everything was cyber.
You still need boots on the ground, or in the case of an island nation, ships at sea.
Remember when everything was missiles and we didn’t need x,y and z.
How do you ‘slow down’ a plan that isn’t even moving?
Well if the plan is currently going backwards slowing down is probably a good thing
My guess is it is kicked down the road.
Or the funding is and we are expected to grow on the same, or a reduced, budget.
Not that I’d seen any indication of what the £70m was going to fund.
