BTEC never applied for

H all. Not used this forum in a long time but thought I could get advice here.

A long story summarised, I took my exams as a cadet, gaining my Staff part two in late 2008 / early 2009. I awaited my BTEC, got to 2011, timed out as a CWO, left, re-joined as a CI and asked numerous times along the way about it but was always met with something along the lines of ‘oh it just takes ages to get’. Sent emails to wing but no reply (about 2010 ish).

Anyways forward to 2013, now an unregularly attending CI due to work commitments, I send an email to the current Wing TO ina final attempt to get some answers, the gentleman informs me there’s no record of a BTEC ever being applied for !

So my question is this, what can I do from here ? It’s really disappointing to hear that my 2yrs of hard work towards it essentially was for nothing. Unfortunately since I took all my exams we’ve changed to online tests and all that, plus I think the BTEC itself may even have changed.

Does this simply mean all is lost, or is there a chance of it being rectified ? If the Sqn has some evidence of me taking the exam could this still be applied for.

Kindest regards

Hello Nails,

Do you (or your Squadron) still have your blue card (RAF Form 3521A ATC Examination and Project Record Card)?

Under the old system, you needed to send the Wing Training Officer the blue card and evidence of having completed First Class training (used to be something like ACTI 25 Annex A, then became TG1 and TG2 forms, now TG001 and TG002).

If you can still get hold of these, the Wing Training Officer may be able to apply for your original BTEC Aviation Studies (‘worth’ 2 GCSEs). Without them, I fear all is lost…

Hi there Hendon Chipmunk, many thanks for the swift response.

I’ve sent an email to our Adj asking him about this, they were still around about a year or so ago so fingers crossed !

Thanks
