Hi all, I was simply wandering how many glider flights/launches I will need to get my Bronze G Wings?
P.S I currently have my blue and have done the bronze ground school and synthetic training (PTT)

Firstly, are you 15 or older? If not, you will have to wait.
You will need to do more than 1 airborne sortie to demonstrate FRC drills, datum attitude and stability, medium turns and the approach and landing.
I would suggest 2-3 launches. Probably 2 if your switched on, but I think that there is too much to do for 1 sortie.
There is quite a lot to get through in the Bronze ATP. So you should expect 6 launches, or 40 mins total flight time if thermalling is involved.
Considering my wing has only had 3 slots for gliding at a VGS since the resumption of gliding i
think that rocking horse poo will be more common than gliding wings in my wing.
All gliding is a two-day event with arrival at the VGS at sat lunch time and leaving on Sunday after lunch. 5 hours and 260 mile round trip for 3 slots this is over £80 traveling pay for the escorting staff feeding and accommodation costs and what is essentialy a days travel for a days flying. The furthest west sqns will have a 360 mile 7 hour round trip.
If I remember correctly, it’s about the same for the Northern Irish squadrons to get to Kirknewton.
