I am planning to attend a bronze cyber course, but it requires me to ideally complete the IDEA award. Should I complete it at home before the course and tell the staff after I finished, or is it something the staff have to authorise? Thanks
You can start it at home, but ideally you’ll link your account to the air cadets before completing. You’ll have to ask your staff about that, who should be able to read a How To Guide on SharePoint.
There is a how to guide on cadet portal.
You should use the organisational code for your wing if you can to register (should be in the Guide) but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t.
If I already completed it at home, will I have to complete it again through the sqn to get the award. I am a bit concerned.
No, just link your account to the RAFAC as per the how to guide then show your staff the certificate.
Ok, I would be grateful If I could know where I can find this guide. Thank you
How To guides should be on Cadet Portal
If not ask your Squadron Training Officer to get it via Shareapoint.
Has anyone been to a cyber course weekend. Was it hard or interesting? What did you do and would you recommend it?
Bronze Cyber at the moment is fine, but is a bit basic. Still worth doing though. The new syllabus should be dropping this year as I understand it, which might be better.
What would we do ? Especially if it’s at a different sqn for 2 of their nights?
If you have already done it you will know however Bronze cyber is more a theory based discussion. You get out of it what you put in, if you engage with the content and take part in the fun it can be a good course if delivered right.
