Brassard button hole

Hi,
Does anyone know why there is a button hole on brassards? Seems very odd to me.

Because cadets aren’t the only people to use brassards.

Ok, thanks. I knew of other uses of it (like SM of the Army) but didn’t realise they used the same one. I guess it’s only the dye different!

It looks like some take off the front rank slide and move it to the shoulder as well as using a button in the previous pic

It’s only army RSMs I’ve seen with this.

We had a Cadet Training Team Sgt who used to wear his stripes on one over his OG Wooly pully

Are you going to argue with him?

Sorry, see edit :joy:

Given this is a public site i would strongly advise people to not post anything that could see them ending up in trouble.

We wore them with buttons for many years.

How is that attached?

RSM super duper god like magical powers

Aka

Button

I don’t see one popping through the material, though.

There can be a small flap underneath that attaches

Many years ago Cadets wore a brassard on No.3 dress (DPM back then) we had to sew a button onto the shoulder so the brassard could be attached.

Ahhh. Happier times.

Except puttees. They can bog off.

Useful for an improvised sling or bandage in a first aid scenario though
