Boscombe Down

Hi all , heading to boscombe down in a couple of weeks for camp . Anyone who has been what’s it like? . And any idea what accommodation is like?

Accommodation is good, it’s dedicated for cadets, as it’s a Regional Activities Centre as well as bolted onto the back of a WHQ.

2AEF is based there along with QinetiQ so there is normally something interesting going on, during the week flying wise.

How many to a room do you know?

It varies, there are some double rooms, and some with 4,6 or 8 iirc

Last time I was there (March I think) there were beds and bed frames EVERYWHERE. As I understand it the plan was to increase the occupancy of every single room from two to four (barring the end room which has four bunk beds anyway). The accommodation is pretty good all in all, it’s the march to the mess that’s the killer!

Bumping an old one rather than opening new thread. Has anyone visited since 2015?!

This year’s summer camp allocation is Boscombe Down so would appreciate any insight into programme/accommodation etc

Surrounded by some army bases which i wonder if they will include as section visits.

Does their AEF fly RAFAC cadets as well as UAS?

Accomodation is the same as mentioned above, programme ultimately depends on your camp Comdt and staff, but there is some great stuff to see on site, and lots of great places to visit.

Thank you sorry should have added I’m staff so any local recomendations for activities welcome to add to our programme.

Do they still have a cadet block or transit accommodation?

Drop myself and @mprentice1 a DM, as we are closeby.
