I have been informed that there is a AVIP course coming up and that it is bookable through Bader…
But it is not the most intuitive platform is it?!
Any ideas how I find then book?!
First you need to have an account for SMS, the Squadron Management System, which features our events management. Your Unit OC can create you an account and show you how to log on.
Hover over the calendar icon and click on “My Events”.
Then in the filters at the top tick “Invited Events” and add “AVIP” to the search criteria then click “Filter”
Once you’ve found an event, click on it to open, and click on the “Staff” tab and you should see a button “Join Event”

If all else fails, ask your OC to add you to the event

So, I have a general access account for SMS…but when I log in, i still get my own name in the top right!
However, when I go to my events, there is nothing there even if i clear all the filter!
And when “Invited Events” is ticked?

Ah.
I forgot to activate the filters!
I have found the event but when I click on it I just get a window saying access denied - your account does not have access to the area you are trying to access etc

You need your OC to grant you permissions. In this case it’ll be the ‘activity view’ permission.

Here’s hoping at some point Events gets transferred over to Volunteer Portal! Would make life a lot simpler for those that aren’t in established posts…
