Mass shooting also in the USA:

Yeah, but it’s a day that ends with the letter Y, so less of a shock than Aus.

Bit of a difference between the USA having their worst shooting since yesterday and Aus having the worst since 1996…

Seeing the video of the chap who wrestled the rifle from one of the gunmen. Credit to society - needs giving a medal.

Not sure of time sequencing but looks like he returned to the other gunman & used another rifle?

Long sequencing of shooting + Police takedown (one gunman shot).

There’s an extended version of the video on the BBC that shows him joining his pal on the bridge before the police turn up and get both of them.

There’s also a cracking video of an Aussie bloke stamping on one of the terrorists. I’m not normally supportive of attacking someone when they’re already down, but I’ll make an exception in a case like this…

Will it lead to a headline as good as this one though?

Serious hat on though, both incidents are dreadful, the Americans (nationally) will be somewhat numb to it, offer their thoughts and prayers, and move on to the next tragedy.

The Australians though… this is really going to hurt after such a long time.

Not just the Aussies, but the global Jewish community. This once again appears to be an organised attack on what should have been a day of celebration for Jews.

The guy who disarmed one would’ve been entirely justified in shooting him

My sister & I were debating the same thing. My argument being if he was armed with at least one lethal weapon during what was clearly a planned attack, you can’t reasonably rule out him having a secondary weapon therefore killing him would have been reasonable and proportionate force to prevent further harm.

Apparently a shop owner from nearby, Ahmed al Ahmed. He ended up getting shot later on in the longer video, but is alive. He’s a Muslim.

I hope those people once again shouting anti-Islam stuff will also shout about how a Muslim man risked his life to save others. There’s a tiny percentage of bad people in this world. I’m just glad there are loads of good people willing to risk it all to help others!

Not sure if I can say I’d have risked it like he did.

First thing I thought.

Lethal, extensive (pre-planned) attack, with accomplice(s) & very high probability of a secondary weapon. Even if he didn’t know how to use a rifle (quite possible), he could have clubbed him with it!
