I don’t really know what to pick as they are very conveniently on the same day
Understandably blue shooting seems a bit more obvious but I am a little concerned that i might not have another chance for blue leadership (although they run EFA quite often so there is that, in the sense that they may run Leadership again soon) and I kind of get left in the dust. My IWT does expire this May though too so it seems wiser to do shooting
If you’ve already done the IWT you don’t need to redo it, you can just have a fresh WHT. (If it’s the same weapon system!)
as @Letsthink430 has indicated your IWT does not “expire” it is the Weapons Handling Test (WHT) that was taken at the end which expires.
personally i would rather see someone who completed the weapons training to use that sooner rather than later and get on a range - it puts those newly learnt skills into practice sooner.
the longer you leave it, the greater the skill fade and you’ll find it harder when you do get on a range.
Agreed, sooner you put it into practice the better
There is a lot of pre-approval required by the RCO to run a range; they can’t say, oh, it’s raining, cancel the drill, let’s open up the range. In terms of range / staff availability, running a range might be only once a month or less. Using the range (if it’s an indoor air rifle option) blocks off other sqn trg, so can’t be used every parade night.
Comparatively, Blue Leadership can be run very easily & by more staff.
Shooting every time!
Yeah typo apologies
Wrote this half asleep and it kinda looks like I was just typing for the sake of typing
Yeah, typo I meant WHT
I was also thinking the same, that shooting is most likely done a lot more rarely than something like Blue Leadership.
Also just generally more fun too, especially considering it’s the day after my exams finish so there is that
