I would second that bronze radio can and should be delivered on squadron
But I think you are pushing it with leadership, I think there’s a good reason for it to be a multi squadron activity.

Oh my goodness!
I’m not arguing that there isnt good reason to do it as a sector or wing.
I’m just arguing that it isnt a cast iron rule. I have both run sector and wing bz leadership days and also on Sqn bz training / assessment.
Either works fine for me. Again its just the fact there isnt a cast iron rule on this. Trust me if there were I would adhere.
Here is an interesting point however to reduce the temperature of this utterly pointless discussion.
Why… is Leadership the only PTS subject NOT to have it’s own dedicated wing SME.
All others do. To act as the SME but also for auditing and compliance purposes.
I find that interesting.
You might well find it interesting, but it isn’t relevant to the topic.
Please move it along everyone.
My wing has one.
Made up secondary post. They act as the course commander in the multi activity weekends.
Surely that would fall under the remit of the Wong Training Officer, since all of the Leadership and NCO Courses are there mid responsibility.
Don’t make me lock it
I agree with this, I’ve attempted many a time to have the authority as a Trainer/Assessor to deliver Bronze within Squadron but wing won’t budge. We’re a reasonably small wing and I believe the thought is that, you train a whole squadron then you loose out on quite a few cadets to make numbers for wing courses.
But what if the trainer/assessor can’t do weekends for whatever reason but can do it over a few nights on the squadron? At least that way some cadets get qualified
I agree! It’s frustrating but we work with it…
Our Wing is the same. I am told its to ensure consistent training standards, however some of the staff on our unit are better trainers than the Wing trainers!! Unfortunately it sometimes comes down to if you attend the very social Wing event and your face fits!
I personally would love to train my Cadets and any local squadrons but not allowed
I think we all know that the list held is purely the WRCO discretion, and so anyone “not authorised” who is clearly competent should just crack on, assess and put in for the badges anyway.
When told you’re not on the list, just copy in every man and his dog with copies of your experience/licenses etc asking why on earth not…
If told off (likely), then just buy the badges and issue yourself.
Every time you run a course repeat the above.
Great comment from a junior WSO about a fellow junior WSO
And people wonder why can’t be asked to go on Wing staff
I did that, our previous WTO said “he can’t do that” I continued doing that.
Comms needs a complete restructure anyway… The new CAC seems very keen on modernising our training so hopefully this will end up on the list soon enough.
The ideal time to fix the subject of ‘authorities’ at various levels along with dragging our procedures out of the 1940s.
Comms is basically a self teach course that anyone can do in their own time except for the stumbling block of the useless bronze RAFAC course.
Do you mean Radio or Cyber?
Cyber. Don’t know why I wrote comms
Fair.
If you have suggestions for how the Bronze could be improved, do PM me.
I would be keen to hear from the CCF side of the house.
Or we could split this into a new thread?
