Blue badge log book

Erm, quick question then we can close this thread…

Is it still used??!

It still exists.

But given all the changes to wider policy and training stuff, it’s incredibly out of date, and basically doesn’t follow the current badge policy or training syllabus at all.

Begs the question…how do you find this stuff out?

Osmosis?

That’s arguably a very good analogy of our comms system. Lots of semipermeable membranes that slowly allow information to cross :joy:

But yeah, not sure. I find a lot of stuff out by seeing posts on here. And also certain sharepoint alerts I have set up to see when things get changed.

I’ve never seen anything to say to stop using the blue badge book. But just flicking through it, a number of them have changed so giving it out would be fairly futile, and will likely lead to confusion.

We gave up using them a while ago, they were only really useful for recording all the blue pre-DofE bits, and even then most of that was just ticking boxes for things that are recorded elsewhere anyway. Seemed like a waste of paper.

Makes me think that we need a system for recording learning on a phone.

Moodle has an app.

It doesn’t need to hold the assignments (or paper workbook style answers), just what’s been done and what needs to be done.

Hard agree, and I’d add that system should be fully integrated with My RAFAC and Cadet Portal (which should also be fully integrated with each other: i.e. a cadet should never have to leave the app and start again by logging in via the browser, and vice versa, and there should be an equivalent app for staff).

As if this was ever going to happen :joy: :joy:

Recording qualifications on SMS is easy enough, and the cadets can (in theory) see them on Cadet Portal (not sure if they can on the MyRAFAC app).
