If quit the RAFAC then the individuals priorities are definitely questionable… We’re here for the cadets not to keep fluff on our faces because it suits…
Quit rafac
I quit growing my beard twice a week. I call it “shaving”
Not necessarily. Straws and camel’s backs spring to mind.
More like toys out of the pram.
+1 vote for this.
I know a selection of very capable, competent and respected CFAVs who ended up leaving over what was a teeny tiny little disagreement but was the 1000th cut which proved fatal.
if this was the sole reason, it does seem out of proportion, but with (full) context difficult to offer a reasoned response.
I can see it. Never being allowed a beard because you’ve been in the organisation since before you could grow any sort of one, being told you’re allowed a beard, and then being told you’re not allowed one because yours is awful could do things to somebody’s motivation.
absolutely agree
but is it proportional?
perhaps a case of agree to disagree
as Giminion indicates:
I never quit growing my beard, but hide it by shaving as necessary.
Speak to either your Flight Sergeant, or WO and they will get in touch with your Wing Commander, who will do something (i don’t know what happens from there).
Truthfully, I started growing mine a week prior to requesting permission. I got permission quickly, but nothing about when or how it will be checked.
Simply put, permission granted as long as policy is followed.
It felt like Christmas came early.
I took a run up at mine too.
I can heartily recommend Honest Amish Beard Oil.
My OHs mam gave me a homemade beard oil that she created, all natural stuff. Looks similar to that what you’ve just mentioned.
Although, I often forget to apply it on a morning before leaving home.
I’ve undergone my annual winter transformation - in summer I either go clean shaven or keep a short, tidy beard - but I’ve not trimmed it in a month and I’ve re-introduced the beard rings: and lo! I’m Angus Forkbeard, mightiest of the Norse Kings of the Western Sea, and apparently it looks rather cool/wierd/impressive/lame* as I thunder past on my quad bike!
*delete as appropriate, according to which of my children you ask.
Erm… parade nights?
Lads, lads, lads…
Why buy expensive “hipster” beard oil when you can just indent for a massive bottle of OX-24?
I’m using WD40: The Mark of a Man…
Gives the beard a glossy sheen, as well as preventing chaffing…
It helps with water repellency when out in the rain too…
CI = No silly requests to people I don’t know, will never speak to and don’t personally care about.
Beard has been growing for years with the odd trim here and there
