Just a quick query - not really of any importance, but can banner accessories (E.G Banner Carry belts, gloves etc) be ordered through the ACO? or is it left for Squadrons to purchase - and on that are there any regulations covering the pattern/colour of said accessories, for instance I have come back from a Cadet Drill Course and the banner carry belt was brown, whereas my squadron one is the White webbing colour one.
Any guidance/comments would be really appreciated.
I’ve never seen any means of ordering these things through the ACO/RAF and it is left up to units (or those donating banners) to source and provide them. I suspect the only thing you may possibly get through the RAF is white cotton gloves.
There has been some discussion about standardising the banner belts but it has not yet happened. I’ve seen leather belts in brown, black and white, white PVC belts and a range of fancier (more expensive) cloth belts in use and some are definitely shabbier than others. There isn’t even a standard on which shoulder the belt goes over - it depends on the design of the belt.
Even the white courlene belts have a variety of buckles and little in the way of official guidance - are they silver or brass? simple clasp or MOD plate? Can we have badges on the MOD plates etc.
The guidance on gloves is more clear though: do not wear gauntlets.
