Purely as a thought experiment, I’m curious what people’s “if you could have anything, what would you choose” wishlist for features on Bader would be?
Love this idea as every time I try to submit feedback, it takes me to a SharePoint site that I can’t work out.
So my first one is:
- A native bug / suggestion submission feature that can be done from within VP (and presumably CP)

Quick reports functionality to get the specific data you want/need out without having to dig/fish around.

Mandatory training report for CADETS - quickly highlighting those who haven’t got Hot/Cold/First Aid, Sy training in place - so we can target and tailor for events… especially the bigger events where we’ve got more than 5 cadets going as sorting through every PTS badge looking for key works in a PITA.

There is, by I think there’s a benefit to being able to spitball and throw ideas around first, as that forms wants ideas that are pretty much fully fleshed out
But does it go anywhere??? Or are there simply too many to log???
Could the speech bubbles link to existing log of issues connected to any page BEFORE you get to log your own issue???

I would love them to reinstate the feature we had which was bug requests. I’d like a working helpdesk sufficiently resourced for 60k users.
I’d like reports to be usable. I’d like a way to contact event attendees. I’d like gov notify text messaging built in.
I’d like a payment management system. I’d like the appointments feature to be removed because it’s stupid and doesn’t serve any unit level useful purpose. I’d like a parent portal.
I’d like the transport button to be reworked so it isn’t yet another piece of admin people try and make us click before attending an event.
I would like a self service password reset for sms. I would like to end the halfway house of sms and VP where you need to switch one to the other.
Ill think of more later

Yeh this is what I was talking about. But when you click it, it tells you to do it via SharePoint.
That’s not what I should have to work with as an end user.
Just let me put some text in a box / select relevant drop down menus without having to work out how the SharePoint page works and go through loads of extra clicks and a form.
And I’m mostly logging in on my phone, which means everything needs to be easy on my phone. I won’t be making a note to submit a bug from my laptop later.

Based on a discussion about RAs…
When you select the type of activity you’re doing, a centrally provided and current RA for that sort of activity is instantly populated on your activity.
Meaning all you have to do is add any hyper-specific stuff / to sign to say the auto-RA is adequate.

I’d like the timeout for not using bader to be more than 5 mins or so. I could be inputting a register, but one of the cadets or staff could distract me and ask me where something is, and when I return, finish the register and click next, only to be booted out and have to start again.

If a short timeout is required for the security accreditation, at least have a warning pop up with a countdown, like most internet banking does, rather than wait until you think you’ve finished and it fails to save.

Id love the “Your Training” badge dashboard GUI that cadets have on Cadet Portal to be reflected in Volunteer Portal, preferably on a individual cadet basis and a unit wide basis).
It’d make it far easier to go into a cadets profile and at a glance see all the badges they have (and any partial achievements like Presentation Skills but not MOI) rather than having to manually scan through their qualifications list.
This would be quite useful when I’m trying to identify potential new challenges for older cadets that have already done most of the fundamental stuff.
The unit wide view of PTS badges would give me an at a glance view of how many of my cadets have (for each particular badge) no badge, Blue, Bronze, Silver or Gold, potentially with a dropdown list to see which cadets. Even those brief stats would help a lot to identify training gaps and overall training performance across the squadron.
I know badges aren’t everything, and that a lot of the latter can be done via SMS reports, but it’s so clunky and manual, compared to just adopting the visual view that cadets already have on CP.

Once a qualification is added that has a badge and or certificate we can request for an order of badges and the certificates to be automatically generated instead of sending off certificate requests and badge requests ontop of adding the qualifications.

I don’t think it’s a security thing, as it only occurs on SMS. Iirc it usually complains about cookies or similar, so it’s possible that it’s using some form of session token to keep the SMS session alive, and if the TTL hits 0 then it essentially breaks and kicks you out the next time you click on something.
Id wager good money this is less about security and more about SMS being quite old and using slightly more dated technologies and approaches than the newer tools like VP.
I will absolutely be celebrating the day that SMS is swept into the dustbin of history, but at this rate I’d be shocked if it happens before 2030…
