So…please do correct me if i’m wrong, being fairly new to the organisation but with a good chunk of regular service behind me…
The title of SWO appears on Bader SMS as a rank, which in itself is incorrect, is it not?
Anyway, our WWO has decided that he is entitled to this rank and changed his SMS rank to SWO. Personally, my first thoughts were along the lines of Walt or some other such smear. I would quite like to ask which Station he was the Warrant Officer of?
Am I right, in that he is in no way entitled to use that title, or does it’s appearance on Bader hint at some sort of position (i.e. Senior Warrant Officer?).
Even so, a position shouldn’t appear as a rank. The Commandant wouldn’t have ‘Commandant Air Cadets’ as her rank, would she?
Quite correct: SWO is not a rank, nor is RWO or WWO (something which I’ve seen people get mixed up quite recently)
In fact, in the ACO context I believe “SWO” is generally used to mean “Squadron Warrant Officer” - if so, your WWO seems to have given himself a demotion
there is a hang over from alongtime ago… depends on who updated what - mine says it - guess the fact my appt letter said Sqn WO - on bader you will also find AWO as in Adult WO which was binned alongtime ago… I also find if you do a Bader search at Wing level for SNCO’s I have some does as CI’s and some done as various VRT ranks - so its just an update thing, at the end of the day if you change its not going to impact Bader or related pay etc, etc
Update this is what Bader has in the Status field, which can’t be changed: Adult NCO

My status is still Civilian Instructor. I’m a Flying Officer now. So you can guess how long that’s been wrong for.
I’d assume that in this context it’s referring to a “Station Warrant Officer” as it’s right above “CACWO” in the list.
The ‘rank’ list also contains Treasurer; Chairperson; President; Secretary; as well as Plt Off, Fg Off, Flt Lt, and Sqn Ldr twice…
Clearly the list was populated by someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing/the difference between rank and appointment.
