Maybe someone else has had some luck with this…because I sure as hell am not having any!
I’d like to be able to output a data object containing cadets parents name and address that I can then use to mail merge letters.
The inbuilt “contact sheet” report only shows home and cadets own mobile numbers; and the “Next of Kin Mail Merge” report (which sounds like it should be exactly what I want) is missing a key element of information: - anything which would allow me to mail merge…
Has anyone found a way to get this damn system to work?
IIRC that’s not possible.
Sounds about right…
God forbid we should ask the system to make our lives easier
The accreditation currently forbids the export of address data.
Naturally this means every squadron in the country maintains an offline address database, probably on unsecure PCs.
Thus defeating the object of SMS as a secure system…
Good effort DSAS.
I’ve never understood this paranoia about making lists of contact details, because we have got them all in drawers in our sqn HQs like we have had for 70+ years and as Redowling says people have lists on PCs nowadays.
Back in the 80s the COs wife kept the list up to date (she was the CWC Seceretary essentially because and a decent typist) and gave us all copies. So keepng list of cadet addresses and phone numbers isn’t a new thing.
The fact we aren’t allowed to extract information except for a few shoddily put together reports, hasn’t endeared me to SMS. We do all the work for a few paid civil servants and retired officer to make stange noises around meeting tables.
