Latest update is that an update to Google Chrome stops you uploading attachments or using the address book. The helpdesk’s answer “use a different browser”. Well done guys, thanks for that! I’ll install a new browser just to use the email system I’m forced to.
It used to be the case that my firefox crashed when trying to download attachments from sharepoint so I used IE11 to access bader stuff. It also works well with OWA.
However, I can’t get IE11 to view uploaded images in SMS (sqn logo, personnel photos). If I need to view those images I use Firefox.
With Microsoft’s slack acknowledgement of industry standards it is sometimes not possible to support every browser out there; even the big 4. There may well be absolutely nothing the helpdesk can do to resolve this for you. I’d advise the same unless I could find whatever has changed in Chrome to cripple that functionality.
Don’t think it helps that we’re on Exchange 2010
I had issues with attachments with Chrome yesterday - I installed MS Silverlight which seemed to fix the issue.

Indeed - BADER mail isn’t a bespoke system, it’s basically just MS Exchange. So the issue is likely with Microsoft, not the ATC.
It’s kind of irrelevant where the problem lies - if you as an organisation are going to mandate the use of a system, you should ensure that the system is usable by the people you’re making use it. It’s not like Chrome is a niche browser. A more helpful update would have been “we’re aware of the problem and are working on a solution. In the meantime, please use a different browser”. That way it sounds like they are taking it seriously. Fobbing people off with “you don’t like it? tough” doesn’t endear you to people and doesn’t actually help matters.
Agreed, a “we are aware & working on it” message is much more counter-productive (assuming it IS being worked on of course!).
Wonder if it will work with this browser?
It isn’t like Exchange is a niche email system either - it seems to me that the ball is probably in Google’s court. Either way, I don’t imagine that our helpdesk will be working on a solution.
Of course, they do need to be diplomatic in the way that they shrug and fob people off.
After doing some investigating (which, you know, I’m not paid to do or anything unlike a certain team) I’ve found a workaround. If using Chrome, at the log-in screen enable the “light” version of the web app and you can still use attachments.
It is because Chrome removed the functionality. Allegedly it’s fine in OWA 2013, but we’re running 2010 I believe…
Look. That would have been a better announcement wouldn’t it?
Note from microsoft for potential registry hack http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3001145
Chrome’s blog reporting of the removal of the feature thats broken outlook http://blog.chromium.org/2014/07/disabling-showmodaldialog.html
Apart from the possible registry hack, its up to Microsoft to fix owa.
Does the BYOD policy require you to update to the most recent OS before it will allow you to access email via Exchange? My Bader accounts on my iPad have stopped working and the only thing that has changed is the fact that it told me iOS8 is available to download?
I’m not a Mac guy, but after the last server update mine stopped working with outlook. Deleting the account and setting it up again fixed it for me.
Perhaps something similar would help you?

I had the same problem but only with my WSO account. My OC Sqn account was fine.

Tried the deletion trick but it didn’t seem to work. Even took the device off via the Outlook Web App. Bit of a pain really!
