By that statement diabetics would never go out.
When my parents have a flu jab never seem to be too bothered about who they see.
It depends on the ailment and common sense should apply. If you have some infectous disease then stay home, if you have something that could hinder you in a fire evacuation e.g. a plastered leg then stay home. If you have a cold of fractured finger nail then I see no reason why you cannot attend.
