Hi,

How does everyone else put their ATC pins on the no1 tunic

I tend to make a small template out of a post-it note so I can get measurements and alignment correct before placing the pins.

The first set I did I cut holes for the 2 spurs of the ATC badge then slid the spring-pin through the loops behind the lapel before bending the ends of the pins to keep them secure. The last pair I fitted I filed off the fastenings from the badges and sewed them in place with nylon thread.

If you can get a nice set of ATC badges with spikes and clutch fasteners they are much easier to fit.

  1. Cut two slits.
  2. Push lugs through slits.
  3. Insert cotter pin through lugs.

Quick. Easy. As designed.

The butterfly fastening pins are even easier but if you’re buying from a cadet supply shop just ensure you don’t accidentally buy the comedy oversized ones which are too wide.

snap! i use fishing line/nylon thread also and have done on ranks slides as well…
