Astra Clothing Programme

Well, even if it is, we’re not going to get it for about a decade, so gives us all a chance to find a new hobby.

I’m assuming this is the usual Civil Service trick and that amongst all of the dross is the one choice they actually want to implement.

Exactly that I’m sure.

OP on Reddit claims to have been “sent” this and it was dated July 2020. Probably some mate found it and passed it on.
I seem to recall seeing a less-rubbish but still awful set of graphics showing a different ‘proposed uniform’ some months ago.

April Fools Day!! Gotcha All…what do you mean it’s only Feb 1st? Ah…Slow January feels like its been 3 months :grimacing:

This is proper gopp worthy

We should just sir back and see what they come up with, because we will have zero input.

But quite like the idea of having different colour tops Star Trek style to indicate status and anyone Sqn Ldr and above gets the red one.

Yeah, aside from when they asked for our input with the survey…

We have had numerous surveys, so holding breath not recommended.

At least the new headdress won’t need so much moulding when it’s brand new.

I can see there will be benefits of ASTRA I.E Internet systems and tech.

But, WHY for the love of god is the RAF so hell bent on appearing to be a trendy “civilian employer” by culling uniform looks and scrapping traditions?!

Individuals who want join do so because they want that smart and disciplined lifestyle, and if they don’t they stay on civvy street. Plain and simple.

“but we’ve always done it this way”…

I can imagine cost is a major factor in a more practical “relaxed” look, the Army have been doing this for years and perhaps being more attractive to potential recruits in our modern inclusive world. When we “dressed down” in my old job it didn’t mean any drop in the professionalism of our work.

The only time I regularly wear anything remotely formal now is a couple hours a week for cadets.
