Are Nitehawk Boots worth getting?

They’re only £30 and they seem quite decent for their price but I am not sure
I’m getting them because I stupidly brought the wrong boots (that weren’t either combat boots or high boots) and so I don’t really have that much money laying around to buy with.

Opinions?

I would probably go to an Army Surplus store and get some used boots for similar money.

I was considering Altbergs because they were around the same price but they’re all decently used and they look quite manky too from the use
I also generally prefer black over brown which most Altbergs i’ve seen aren’t.

That’s because the uniform is going towards a brown boot not black. You can still wear black though.

I wouldn’t worry about the brand of boot, there are lots of options, go for the comfiest and ones that fit the best.

From the look of them, I wouldn’t recommend them.

Yeah, they remind me of boots I had in the ‘90s.

Wouldn’t touch them myself either. Looks like a knock off of old school Magnum’s.

To me, they look like poorly manufactured Magnum knock offs.

I hate to say it, but cheap, poor quality boots, often ‘Kombat’ probably cause 90% of foot problems I see in the field and road marching. If you can manage it, a pair of good part worn issue boots with a replacement insole are the best option if you cannot afford new, good quality boot.

As a cadet I had a pair of part-worn, and re-soled German para-boots. Good brands to look out for now are Lowa and Meindel (just suggesting what I know from personal use). Also out there which seem to do well are Altberg and Haix issued boots; I’m sure that the denizens of this forum will have their own favourites.

Ill see
Migjt consider the altbergs my sgt sent me

I have to wear what I’m issued, but if I had a choice I’d choose Altbergs.

Really? I thought you would get the choice to wear anything as long as it’s good

You got them issued? Nice

To dial things back a bit, @liban_patriot you can also use the search function to find quite a lot of prior discussions about different boots, but also consider what you actually plan to use them for.

My general advice is that for cutting about the unit and a bit of shooting, then whatever looks the part will do for now, even if they wouldn’t take a beating. BUT if you are looking at getting into fieldcraft, road marching, and more intensive activities then you will be wanting an upgrade later.

It’s then a balance between investing early or buying cheap to save up before buying twice.

If buying second hand, then either go with photos of the actual item or from a dealer that knows how to grade things - Supergrade or Grade 1 is usually decent enough. A couple of scuffs aren’t much of a problem, especially if on the rubberised strips that many modern boots have around the edge.

Could you sell these on to recoup? Or are you still within the return window?

I got it from a market for 15
But apparently they cost 90 online so god knows how i managed to get that bargain
If i sell it for 60 or 70 then i might have a bigger budget

Apparently, it can cause all sorts of issues if you try to claim for a lower limb injury if you weren’t wearing issued boots and socks.

You’re kidding

God forbid you wear Walking, rather than OG green, socks when you get your foot ran over with an AFV
