My understand was those are back on the old system when instructor cadet was a formal classification after master cadet, rather than the standalone MOI qualification with the spaghetti lanyard on the shoulder.
So yes instructor cadets exist, but it’s a broad term for anyone with the MOI qual and is indicated by wearing the qual lanyard, definitely not rankslides anymore.
No.
The term Staff Cadet has replaced Instructor Cadet for adult aged cadets and the yellow lanyard shows the cadets status as a qualified instructor (MOI).
So you are still using Instructor Cadet tapes as in the photo? It’s been at least 10 years since they were stopped. So I’d be intrigued to know why they’re still in use!
Can’t wait until we finally make them probationary sgts but with access to unique development opportunities until they’re 20, a bit like an “adventure scouts” bonus tier.
It’s a pain trying to provide O18 cadets with an enhance developmental experience with more responsibility but not being able to engage with them as the adults they are.
And now they no longer count toward ratios and can’t exercise certain quals a lot don’t see the point.
Most of my cadets leave before they turn 18 now - often quite a lot earlier than they did as they know they’re not staying on (so at end of year 12 or thereabouts)
