Looks like Obs Course might be allowed again! Paused May 2023, revived revived Nov 2024. We certainly suffered longer pauses. Still takes the urea. And as was discussed back in May 2023, this didn’t appear to effect the ACF?
(Given the Comdt has commented, and comments on VOP, I do assume this is properly sanctioned!)
Who knows. There’s no information about this other than the one comment on VoP. It’s a little annoying seeing photos of an activity going on that is supposedly banned. Fingers crossed what ever needed trailing has worked.
Interestingly, if you search the entirety of SharePoint for the last month for “Obstacle Course”, the only relevant documents is the admin order for the event in that link, which includes a PARQ.
You say ‘still use’ as though it was never banned? I was under the impression North region recently were allowed to trial what ever the new policy will be?
Anyone know the latest update on this, i have seen on social media that Horsham Sqn have been doing one this weekend and I am keen to get my Sqn doing similar.
But the previous IBN implied staff that were trained were not trained properly, so I was under the impression there was no way for us to currently run obs course.
So how have 1015 run it this weekend?
I’ve asked someone who said it could in theory be an army PTI delivering it.
There are currently a limited number of CFAVs who are qualified in the use of Obstacle Courses on RAF stations and the DTE. Use of these courses requires the completion of the Defence Obstacle Course Supervisor (OCS) qualification delivered at either the Army or RAF schools of PT. The RAF School of PT has identified a training gap that needs to be reviewed. The OCS qualification is suspended for use by RAFAC CFAVs (CCF and ATC) with immediate effect, and legacy qualifications are suspended; individuals will be informed in due course.
It doesn’t say one is okay, one is not. Just says use of the qual is paused for RAFAC CFAVs.
Yeah but let’s face it, from the air cadets side no activity is really “banned” as long as you can find someone to approve it (yes there may be repercussions after)
How many people in the organisation actually know that we’re currently not allowed to use Obs courses? It’s hard to keep up with everything, especially when some things stretch back several years.
Yeah, 100%. Can’t blame those delivering for not knowing. ACTO 10 and ACP 300 still list it as an approved activity. As does certain AT policy. The only thing banning it is the announcement linked at the start of this thread.
I would however question who was approving it. They should surely know better/more. And given this is a larger camp, I can only assume it’s gone through the CACE process too where it maybe should have been questioned.
