All announcements are displayed so that users can see a history of communications etc. We (Bader Dev) are looking to add some filters for a future release so that users can filter out expired announcements if they wish.
The Cadet Portal side of things is working just fine - so when an announcement has expired (i.e. gone beyond the date to field), the announcement disappears from Cadet Portal.
Spoke to the Devs this morning and we will add something to filter/hide expired announcements in due course as part of version 2. I would like to see the ability to add attachments to announcements well if we can.
Can we at least not have them ticked as published once the expiry date has occurred? From my point of view it’s confusing to see a huge list of them and not know which are showing to cadets and which aren’t.
Can anyone confirm please whether or not the announcements also send an email to the cadet at this stage?

If an announcement is created that impacts your unit, the OC does get an email.

You cant make these things too clear in my opinion and this is just right to help everyone less familiar.
Is there any plan for SMS announcements to utilise the Text Message function in Gov Notify? Or if the 250,000 limit is an issue, what about the possibility for units to add their own Gov Notify Key into Bader.
Is that not just the free limit? You have to pay for any texts above that amount?

In theory there is nothing stopping individual units registering for the service now that everyone has a gov.uk email.

Indeed, I set one up right at the beginning.
It’s fiddly. Had there not been the intention to include announcements in SMS/CP I might have bothered to write a front end using the API. But I didn’t.
With a couple of minor tweaks they could improve their web front end immeasurably and I submitted these suggestions to them. Though, I don’t hold much hope - they’ll be low priority with most users I’m sure having their own access via the API.

I don’t suppose anyone happens to know if the plan to allow cadet portal to email cadets when they are added to an announcement, has been carried out yet?
As an aside, am I correct in thinking they get email notifications when an event is cancelled?
I recall @james_elliott saying a while ago that greater integration with Gov.Notify will be included in future developments.
