Airborne Specialist Badge

Had to take a second look at this recent photo of a SAC with flying brevet. Didn’t realise that Air Stewards now get the Airborne Specialist badge, same as Fighter Controllers etc

Yep.
As of the latest badge re-org.

Sort of makes the aircadet badge issues look a bit redundant.

Yep.

I’ve never seen such a bountiful supply of salt from aircrew.

Justifiably in my opinion to be fair.

Isn’t that in line with what civvie cabin crew wear though?

There was a dedicated air steward badge a few years ago.

My missus was civvie cabin crew, yeah, she had a small metallic half wing. So it’s a stretch, but yes.

(What she wore)

This wing has been brought in for all “honorary aircrew” so that’ll included flight test engineers and a few more. In line with ASTRA to make people feel more valued.

Won’t be long before 2FTS start handing their version out to staff who accompany cadets to AEF :face_with_peeking_eye:

Rest in peace Monarch!!

Travesty is she handed her uniform back.

She looked good in that necktie…

Nothing new in that idea, even as far back as the Second World War the military was giving out badges to create team working and improve morale (Even when it was deemed as useful to the enemy).

Medical branch have had their own badges for generations.
