It’s not for uniformed use, I bring it to extra AST sessions to check paces
You shouldn’t. How the CCF gets away with these sorts of things is beyond me.
It’s not anything to do with the CCF
I bought a pace stick for personal use, just like how people buy swords etc. for collecting except I’m using my pace stick as a functional drill item
May I add not in uniform at any point ever
That’s alright then. As long as you’re only using the stick as a pair of giant compasses, then you’re not using it as a DI.
Everyone knows that only DIs can use pace sticks for their real purpose: Pointing at things.
Can be exchanged for a clipboard to appear equally officious and important.
Only if the white belt is being used though
It does really help for checking side paces and the at ease position
That’s really not the giant tweezer shaped point he’s making.
You know what else is good for measuring? Rulers.
Personally, I like to use a measuring wheel. It’s not very precise but the clicking makes me happy.
The pace stick is also just a fun bit of drill to learn
Personally I have more of an issue with ATC NCOs carrying them on formal parade than a cadet using it to add a bit of spice to a drill lesson. But that gets in the way of the narrative of some people on here that CCF = always bad, ATC=always good rather than acknowledging both have their faults.
Guys, don’t make me lock this.
You are right…I happily teach cadets pace stick drill and it’s good that you are using it for its actual purpose! Just don’t go walting around with it, us DIs have very sensitive egos and easily get triggered
At the end of the day, if the cadets are enjoying themselves doing drill , who really cares what movements they are carrying out or what sequence they are following, CCF or ATC we are all RAFAC
If you enter a competition then you are expected to follow the rules of that competition. How is that hard to get?
It’s not that easy to follow the rules when I’ve asked staff and this forum and I still don’t have a definite answer
That sequence you’ve been told to learn you stand still and give the commands
Great, thanks for the help.
