I was just wondering for dining in night, there’s a meal and disco as usual at my sqn for a couple of hours. However, is it required that I am made to disco and dance at all or is there something if only cadets want to do it? Please could someone advise. Thank you.
Dancing and disco are mandatory for everyone, and the highest of high standards are expected at all time - you need to be able to score at least a 9 from 3 out of the 4 “Strictly Come Dancing” judges or you’re demoted to the ACF!
I’m only kidding; fun in the cadets is always optional, and what’s fun for one won’t necessarily be fun for everyone.
I’m the opposite if I can avoid a disco and dancing I do. It’s best to ask your staff but I doubt it’s mandatory and you can ask to leave early.
Our dining in night we don’t do disco and dancing, we do the full dining in style meal, then pick ups at 2200. Not yet been asked if we can do a disco O.O
On my last Sqn North of the border, the ceilidh night was one of the best nights, we brought in a traditional ceilidh band, some of the members would help the Cadets (&staff) to learn the dances if needed and by the end of the night, most people were on the dance floor. It helped that we had a TA centre with a massive hall to use as every inch of the floor was used for Strip the Willow & The Gay Gordons.
No-one was forced to, we had some that went off into a different room to chat with friends, others lingered in the doorway sussing it out but there is something about the traditional Scottish music and dance that you can’t help but join in
