Saw that this morning but received this last week
Further to my last, our modified A/c have all now been tested by Babcock Staff, and sadly all 6 failed the test due to RPM drop during aerobatics.
As things stand, it seems extremely unlikely that any Tutor flying will be achieved at Woodvale for the foreseeable future, and we can only await further developments from the engineering authority.

It therefore is prudent to discard the possibility of a return to cadet flying during August.
We had a similar note last week stating we’re unlikely to get any cadets airborne until late Sept.

We were told Sept at the earliest, that’s at 9 AEF

9 AEF may be a bit later getting cadets flying than other AEFs, as Church Fenton is due to be receiving a few EFT students in order to ease up the backlog at Cranwell.

It may be receiving an EFT squadron from what I hear. Slight irony there if true.

Glad to hear they’ve been able to resume AEFing at Leuchars though. Some of the return is a little down to luck of location, as obviously the priority has to be to get the core site aircraft airworthy and servicable.

Until Church Fenton shuts down at the end of the year, then they’ll move them all up to Linton!

EFT use will be short term.

Just as info…

The good news is EFT has apparently recommenced, which in turn should lead to UAS flying returning very soon. AEF pilots seem to be getting “re-current” at several sites, so things are looking better.

I’m pretty sure that EFT has recommenced - I was overflown by a Totor this afternoon whilst at home, which is under one of the EFT/ AEF flight training boxes.

EFT is indeed back into the swing of things and as such AEFs should be looking to coming back online as we speak!

Looking to is certainly the word - EFT is only really back on line as one sqn has gone to Fenton to use YUAS and their AEF’s aeroplanes. Whilst that’s happening there’s little chance to fit in AEF currency let alone cadet flying. There are still a lot of U/S Tutors so it depends on the AEF site for aircraft availability. EA sites probably have the best chance as they aren’t going to be robbed for EFT.

Sorry I stand corrected. I just assumed having seen Tutors flying around at various AEF sites in the past few weeks that everything was slowly getting back into shape. Hopefully not long now though!

Cadets were certainly flying at an AEF yesterday. Good news all round!
