Adding bar to ribbon without remounting

Because I’m an absolute baller, I’ve just received a bonus piece of metal for my “didn’t get caught” medal.

I feel rather stupid for having the coronation medal mounted when this was going to be awarded so soon, but I’d completely forgotten. I really don’t want to spend a whole load of money, but I think I’ll be waiting a long time for the next one, considering I’m coming out soon with no risk of bonus deployment.

Is there a decent way to add a bar/clasp to a ribbon without paying for a full remount?

I’ve seen so many people be gash and not mount their coronation medals properly and it looks horrendous, so it would have to be compelling. On the plus side, there will be a lot of overlap, so about half the metal/ribbon would be hidden.

I suspect the answer may be “stop being cheap”, but I know we have some people here who know a thing or two about this on a semi-pro level.

TIA xxx

Cop out answers, but it will depend how your medals are mounted.

I mount mine in a way that I only need to take off the medals but leave the back board, slide the bar on and sew the medals back down.

Smart. I’ll ask my tame medal enthusiast to see if he can do something like that.
