I’m looking to plan an activity for the cadets at my squadron. We typically have between 35-50 cadets down depending on the night.
I’d love to know, what’s the best on-squadron activity you’ve ever done? Any resources needed for it? What made it fun?
I’m aiming to try and build more competitive and exciting environment at my squadron.
I’m aware this may have been asked before, so if anyone is aware of where to find this sort of information, I would really appreciate it
Thank you!!
(I have since been promoted from Cpl several times since I made this account a while ago (but that’s still my user) and I am now a higher rank with more control over what happens on a nightly basis)
I’d start by engaging your JNCOs and wider NCO team for ideas. No point having a dog and barking yourself etc.
Then see which options are practical (time, space, staff, budget even) and work back from there.
We’ve found some of the most fun activities we’ve run ourselves have been a series of shorter problem solving and command tasks, with the cadets rotating between them over the night. Ideally a mix of physical and mental skills.
If you want something wild, social deduction games like Werewolf, Two Rooms and a Boom, Blood on the Clocktower have gone down really well and can cover most squadrons all playing together. Not expensive if you think you’ll use it a few times.
Werewolf involves player elimination and so may not be the best in a massive group.
My lot have enjoyed playing this so much that I’m planning on turning a spooky Halloween night into a game night.
