ACLC & Junior Leaders

Hi all, quick question, If a cadet completes and passes ACLC are they eligible to receive a lanyard and if so which colour?

So far I have gathered three conflicting opinions:

No, you specifically need MOI for yellow
Yes, but only yellow
Yes, burgundy as ACLC is equivalent to junior leaders

The ACLC cadets did receive the gold leadership badge which might suggest that the burgundy route is correct!

Thanks in advance, S

If a Cadet passes and completes ACLC, they earn the right to wear the Gold Leadership Badge. No lanyard is earned, nor is any lanyard required when signing up.

If a Cadet passes and completes the Junior Leaders Course, they earn the right to wear the Gold Leadership Badge AND the maroon lanyard.

To summarise, both courses result in the Gold Leadership Badge being awarded, but only Junior Leaders results in the maroon Lanyard to be given.

To help:

Yellow Lanyard: Method of Instruction Cadet.

Eligibility: Master Air Cadet who is 16 or over, completed the Method of Instruction Course and delivered a successfully assessed lesson. This is no longer called a Staff Cadet

Blue Lanyard: Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC)

Eligibility: Master Air Cadet who is 16 or over, obtained GCSE Grade 4 Maths and English Language minimum, completed all weekends and final Graduation Week.

Website: http://www.qaic.org/how-to-apply.html

Maroon Lanyard: Junior Leaders Course (JL)

Eligibility: Master Air Cadet who is 17 or over, obtained GCSE Grade 4 Maths and English Language minimum, normally need to be Cpl and above (not always) and completed all weekends and final Graduation Week.

Hope this helps.

That’s very helpful, thank you!

Just to make sure, completion of ACLC does not complete the requirments for the Yellow lanyard.

ACLC awards Gold Advanced Leadership Badge only

MOI must be completed for yellow Instructor Cadet Lanyard

The maroon JL lanyard is only awarded to those successfully completing Junior Leaders. They also get Gold Leadership Badge.

JL and ACLC are not comparable courses. JL is a nine month course, ACLC is only 1 week.

Not unless MOI was specifically delivered as part of the course programme.
