Just out of interest how does the ACF’s command structure work? I know about the very basics but any enlightenment would be appreciated. Also is the ACF commanded by a 1 Star officer like the ACO?
They have regimental commandants who just make stuff up.
So there’s no single national command body?
Well there is: my response was mostly flippant but not entirely inaccurate.
If you hang about, the ACF people will be along with facts.
There is a certain amount of autonomy for the various areas who tend to follow the patterns of the affiliated regiments to varying extents but there is also a level of overall control and standards of syllabus. The Army Cadet Force Association is an overarching charity which exercises a level of control (not sure how much.)
Yes there is. “Command” of the ACF falls to HQ Support Command.
The command structure goes roughly like so, from top to bottom:
MOD Reserve Forces & Cadets Division
HQ Support Command (Cadets Branch)
Regional Brigades
ACF County
Ah right, thanks very much!
