A new, new boots thread!

Ammunition Pattern (AP) boots.

Meindl Deart Fox.

Comfiest pair of boots I’ve ever owned. She’s a tear when I got rid of them.

Albergs.

Got a well worn in leather pair and they are lovely.

Must say, I prefer the look of Altbergs over the AKUs

DMS boots?

Don’t need to shine all over just toe caps, but I need something more comfortable / practical than ammo boots. Padding round the collar is good. Mid height? I have 8 hole Magnums but they are too tall to wear with smart trousers really.

Something would do double duty as boots to wear with greens on Sqn would be ideal.

Ideally you’d want brown boots for that, otherwise you’ll look somewhat out-of-time.

Not really.

Most of my cadets wear black boots, and I can’t wear MOD brown to work.

I have brown for fieldcraft & shooting.

Scratching my head as to why you wouldn’t also use these

They’d certainly look the part more than black boots. The bulled black AP boots I mentioned earlier are worn exclusively with blue uniforms.

I had a a couple pairs of the old “Combat high” boots & they were exceptionally comfy. A few of them on eBay.

Best combination though - RAF 1965 pattern flying boots but with a “commando” type sole put on by the local cobblers. Gave some ankle support with the suppleness / lightness of the flying boots but with the additional grip.

I’ve heard lots of adjectives to described the old boots, combat high (BCH). Comfy was never one of them.

If those flying boots are the ones I’m thinking of (similar in appearance to BCH, but with cushioning around the top) then they were certainly more comfortable (preferred over BCH by cadets in my day, even though they had practically zero grip!)

Convenience mostly, I go straight to my unit from work.

I can roll up my uniform and put it in my day bag but carrying an extra pair of boots is a step too far!

I must have been lucky - although there were quite a few of my compatriots who also had similar (positive) experiences.
