We had info come round to work from the HS2 project of a person who’d just applied handgel then got a static discharge while getting out of the vehicle igniting the residual gel and vapour. Caused some nice skin burns
I was impressed when I was told I couldn’t have tyres for leadership exercises at squadron - can’t store them outside because of a fire risk. Can’t store them inside incase they catch fire. Now I have driven 1000s of miles at speeds on motorways (70mph obviously) yet they have never once spontaneously combusted on me. Not sure how they would combust in my storeroom at 17 degrees
I once took a tablecloth and candelabra to Nijmegen to decorate the room. (We even had photographs of the queen and DofE on the wall)
I came back from town one Sunday or monday to find my candles had been confiscated and a note to report to the BMC HQ.
Apparently they were a fire hazard, I pointed out that they weren’t lit, and was told that they were a fire hazard as they could be lit. I pointed out that the building was made of wood and plastic, that too was a fire hazard if set alight. I don’t think they understood.
