You know what really makes me laugh?

Out of curiosity- how do the sea cadets do it? Only asking as they are slightly separate to the MOD supply chain so may be a closer more appropriate model that the scout shop one?

Might need to pull these comments out into a new thread.

Maybe not, but there are half a million of them (kids and adults, based on 2021 numbers) in the country. So while there might not be a single convoluted uniform, there are hundreds of thousands of pieces out there.

Mandatory uniform consists of a teal shirt, blue trousers, scarf and woggle. Which comes out at around £38.20 based on their shop prices.

Our Uniform requires a shed load more than that and will consequently cost a lot more, especially when you add in green uniform, boots and shoes.

Could it be done? Yes. Would it cost a shed load more money, money that plenty for families don’t have at the moment? Yes it would. Would there be a corresponding cut in subscriptions? Not a chance.

Simples…

Ours carry a local stock of full uniform too, sourced directly from MoD. Without any of the supply chain issues any of us seem to have with RAF supply.

As the subs don’t pay for uniform then I guess not.

We are already under pressure to provide more IT kit, Flightsims, broadband, AT kit…

None of that comes out of Subs either, it’s comes from the Committees that El Commandante isn’t a fan of.

Ah you mean subs that go up the chain? Still non public funds though, whereas uniform is part of the parent service grant/support in kind

Odd isnt it that comdt wants more and more paid for by sqns, yet hates the mechnaism we have to do this.

But if the parent service was no longer giving it to us for free, then would their not be an expectation of them someone that amount form the budget elsewhere in supporting us? (Which could be an area that Cadets currently support through Subs)

It would be nice if they did, I suspect the funding wouldn’t work that way. Swapping blues for greens from the supply chain might be easier.

This absolute gem in a Police summary:

“At 2137 hours PC Smith & PC Jones have observed the males sit on a bench. They sat together and loitered within the park. There is no legitimate reason for these males to be within the park at this time of night, they are not walking a dog, nor are they having a ‘smoke’ or engaging in sexual activities.”

What park was this? I need to, err, walk my dog and have a smoke.

What was the Offence they were looking at? Or is this justifying a Stop Search?

Being Concerned.

I just love that ‘smoke’ is universal slang for a spliff, and even that would have been ok!

We’ve come a long way from cottaging trials.

And hope that someone else is doing the same and feeling amorous…?

I’m too old for all that now anyway to be fair.

I’d rather have a nap on the sofa :joy:

why not go to the park and have a nap on a park bench then!

I suppose it was just a way of covering off defences for other things they could’ve been doing.

You say about cottaging, I once nicked a bloke who I caught knocking one out in the gents toilets at a major train station, he was standing at a urinal watching the bloke next to him.

:face_vomiting: and words

Went in to talk to year six about my career for “aspiration week”.

Some of the questions were brilliant.

Plus one awkward moment when a kid that I know is looked after through my governor role said “I like judges. One sent my daddy to prison when I was eight. I don’t get hurt anymore at home”.
