I think you also but against the headache of dealing with the other services when trying to change the CCFs uniform badges.

I would argue that wing or region patches would be ATC only. CCFs are affiliated with / supported by regions, but not fully under them.

My region has a CCF C&E Wing so am not sure they kind of are
No CCFs are affiliated to wings, only Regions, even then only for administrative purposes. Ultimate responsibility and ownership falls upon the Head, whereas for ATC sqns AOC 22 Gp carries all responsibility.
No, C&E have created a wing specially for ccfs.

The CCF wing is effectively the old eastern area & was because before the WExOs administered them with their civil service hat but had to change due to the introduction of pillars.
The old CCF areas were a beauty to behold as they were created using the method “of drawing six lines on a map with a ruler”
The CCFs are administered by region but are not commanded by region. I know of one school that stopped their air section flying as the region couldn’t provided the assurance that the AEF met the schools safe standard of training.
To bring back to topic in my earlier post re formation badges i hadnt listed the CCF as separate wings but it would make sense to do so
This just boggles my mind that a school would decide that they’re got a better understanding of aviation safety then the (already risk averse) RAFAC safe system of training created precisely around aviation and the wider RAFAC curriculum…

I think the school asked for confirmation that the pilots were DBS cleared & properly licensed due to the issue the VGS pilot signing off pilot checks unqualified & got concerned when the RAF couldn’t give a clear answer straight away (which always ring alarm bells).
You also had the CCF glider fatalities caused by a pilot being medically cleared when he shouldn’t have been so school were probably working on the “don’t assume” mindset & the RAF was unused to being on the receiving end.

Interesting concept, and I think it would really help with getting more courses available to CCFs, with that often a big blocker. Only issue would be the distances involved, when really it’s just the CTT running lots of courses, as opposed to an actual wing.

I am curious to see yet another region making up a role of CCF Wing Executive Officer or CCF Region Executive Officer - The new Region roles are defined and they are CCF Liaison Officer (CCF LO)
