@james_elliott one minor question - it says that Sqn staff know when we’re getting the portal, where would we find this information?
On the Vader / cadet portal hub on SharePoint. There’s the deployment plan.
There is a count down timer on the CP SharePoint for quick reference , a deployment plan, regular updates etc.
It’s in the portal release notes.
In a week or so

I posted this in our whatsapp group earlier saying that who ever is running the collection of info better get a shifty on as we dont have long til its our turn, and I refuse to spend the night messing about and stressing over it…Read by all…ignored by all
All of our cadets have recorded emails and at least one phone no - does it matter if it’s in the home or mobile field?
Our Bader POC told me with the set up process the cadet gets sent a SMS code to activate
Cadet Portal Briefing Video for Air Cadets is now available at:
This video will take cadets (and staff) through the initial welcome email being received, authentication of their new account and then the Cadet Portal functionality.
The cadets can authenticate their account via text message, email or phone calls to mobile or landline numbers. They are sent a unique code which they enter into the Microsoft authentication process which confirms their identity.
Ideally the cadet should have an email, mobile and home phone number listed.
Barely anyone I know has a landline these days!
Which to an extent is madness, as what happens when the mobile network is overloaded or ‘down’ and you need an emergency service.
We have a landline for our internet and have a phone plugged into it for that very reason. We don’t answer when it rings unless we fancy winding up the scam artists/telesales people who call. Neither of us have a clue what the number is though.
How often are mobile networks really down? Even when they are as long as one of them is up you can still call 999.
Ok, but is it an issue re CP set-up if they only have one?
No, absolutely not
In that case, my sqn is all set! Bring on Cadet Portal!
Not if there is a major incident declared and the first thing that is taken down is the open mobile network, for instance to stop mobile phones being used as a bomb trigger. Emergency service have Aorwaves and specifically issued SIM cards for access.
Reently where I live EE has been down a couple of times and there ares still areas of poor access into the system.
If MTPAS is activated, you can definitely still drop a 999 call in. Irrespective of whether you are a priority user or not. You just can’t call for a Dominoes or phone Billy’s mum and say your running late.
