No one here of that name?
Haha. Appreciate itās not a big deal but Iād also imagine itās a 30second fix! Itās down as Heartstart on all BHF literature and also on the fields reports on SMS and the qualification itself on SMS!
Technically, yes; but as VSDT are bound to follow what we have in our regulations (apparently, verbatim) then it actually involves HQAC TG changing their documents first, so way more than 30s!
Just to be clear, it is the Bader IT Team that are bound by policy and driven by it - probably far more than we are and that is right a proper.
The policy owner comes to us with a requirement and a supporting policy and we implement that. Simples.
Is there a way to stop Contact No. going out to Cadets? Ok with staff having my number but giving a personal mobile to Cadets via the Portal isnāt.
So how would your cadets contact you if they had a problem?
My immediate thought is that you could have a duty mobile PAYG phone which is something I know of lot of Sqns do - just a suggestion, not necessarily a solution.
My mobile and email goes on most paperwork such as JIs anyway.
Not just for the cadets in advance, but parents as well if they need to reach their child within the duration.
Iāve not felt the need for a second/duty phone as Iāve never found it to be abused.
Just my view and anecdotal experience, but Iām a believer that there needs to be some possible line of communication - personal or otherwise.
Something more substantial you say? The 3822 on the dashboard seems to me to be the old designā¦
Ha! Well spotted!
They can email me, that goes direct to my phone. Or if we are on an activity they can phone the Squadron PAYG which is only turned on during an activity.
I have a 100% Cadets & Parents will not have my personal phone number Policy. Iāve seen it end badly all to many times.
You mean the date pickers yeah?
Yeah.
Where is this contact number populated from?
Separate contact fields for staff and parents/cadets maybe? Iām pretty sure my Safeguarding said Cdts not to have staff numbers. That way Cdts could have Sqn landline but staff - and those doing approvals - still have the AICās mobile.
My bugbear with the new SMS is when you are trying to select a date for an event (i am currently cloning apps), the date is covered up by previous selected Date/Time.
Im using Chrome so not sure if its something inbuilt to chrome rather than an SMS thing. Any ideas?
When adding qualifications it would be nice to have the option to type in the qual name to find it in the long list. That used to be available, but now itās a lot of scrolling to find the relevant qualification. Maybe thatās just a mobile issue.
Thatās a chrome auto-complete thing.
This is already a thing . . .
When you create an event, you donāt have to have add the same details onto the āCadet Portalā tab as youāve added to the main event details.
OK I have investigated this. The way it is currently configured is a standard approach across SPOL, Ultilearn etc and SMS has been developed to do the same. The plugin code that does the calendars uses the same thing so it must be a fairly standard practice.
If we change it, we will have to change it for everything everywhere which would turn a small job into a very big job across multiple platforms.
It is populated on the event itself and is a required field at the moment.
Yeah this is a Chrome thing and you can turn it off in the settings - search for automated dates and you should find the setting.
I will investigate that one for you and respond back. SMS is a complex web based application and isnāt really fully device agnostic ie it doesnāt like mobile views in some instances.
More to follow.
Correct - you can have completely different info pushed to the cadets compared to the main application.
This means you can tell the cadets to arrive early with impacting the timings on the event itself, provide cadet-friendly words rather than the stuff you put on the main app.
