The future of cadet shooting within the RAFAC

The cadet Smallbore meeting ought to combine with the NSRA Smallbore rifle meeting as both organisations numbers are in decline!.

RAFAC should adopt NSRA policies and qualifications for air rifle RCO’s and Club Instructors to simplify it. It’s currently overly bureaucratic and OTT generally.

Cadets should be able to get badges based on achieved groups and scores on proportional NSRA targets and using .22 target rifles.

I also suggested that that RAFAC should adopt all NSRA / RCO aspects - sadly, it’s not as simple as this, the whole process has to be taken under risk = such a huge change that it won’t happen.

Going back quite along way, for both air rifle & .22, it was the normal process to get shooting awards based on grouping & for the higher awards, scoring. A side note - different levels could be run on the same detail which made it much easier to manage range time.

I don’t think that anyone has ever looked at running the 2 Smallbore Meetings together - it would make some sense - although I can’t remember when the NSRA is in the calendar to cope with school holidays for cadets.
