The future of cadet shooting: Discuss

Thanks to both, with the moveable board, just wondering what material do you use, ply could cause a ricochet and I imagine a softer board could trap the pellets on the face of the board?

DSA 03.OME Pt 3 Vol 2 – Design, Construction and Maintenance

Try this! Page 248 onwards should be useful for you!

Most use hessian to cover the linatex or make frames for behind the targets.

I’ve known some use bed sheets but DSA 03 should help.

Thanks for the DS3, I wouldn’t have known where to start to find it!
I’ll do some tests with bedsheets as I’ve got a few old ones kicking around. It’ll certainly be easier if we can use the existing range

Hessian sheet.

I can confirm that this is the plan, at least it was when last I checked! It was due to have happened by now, but we are currently transitioning to a new modular syllabus and my understanding is that any potential new WS is delayed until the syllabus is up and running.

The L86 was withdrawn simply because the Army were doing the same and were unwilling to support purely for cadet use (a shame as we could have had a lot more LSWs!). The L85 was not a cadet WS so was wasn’t removed. Given that the LSW was authorised as a WS to be used by senior cadets, I don’t see a problem with the L85A3, except financial reasons.

It is an odd one, the L86 would have been useful (and indeed some of the regulars did like it too).

I’d be more comfortable with the L86 or the M4 Sharpshooter than having two very similar systems with different requirements used together.
