Still called probationers?

I also joined on my own and was called a probationer, which struck me as more of a police thing than a military one. I remember a 2nd class cadet pulling rank on me on my first night! The parent service officially has a rank of air recruit now and I think RAFAC terminology should follow.

If they are not on the systems from day1, are there any insurance liabilities if they injure themselves or are injured?

I’m not entirely sure on that one! I’ve always played it safe by adding them, so never needed to consider if not adding them is okay or not!

I didn’t think cadets were insured until they were enrolled?

I don’t know about any official terms but on squadron we use a variety of things, mostly recruits, RTF, or probationers

We have issues with access to decent broadband, so need at least basic details to be accessible. We have the forms under lock and key, with appropriate access.

Oh, 100%. I nice and simple contacts sheet kept in the safe is always a good idea. Just basic cadet name + NOK details.
