Or you’re just thinking of the regulars / reserves? Cadets are enrolled rather than attested, by making the cadet promise rather than taking the oath of allegiance.
Now you’ve said the word “enrolled”, that has acted as a suitable memory jogger.
Turns out we didn’t, in fact, have delusions of grandeur…
