There’s also things like university accommodation they could consider.
One problem we have (and this applies to cadet activity too) is we try to do everything at minimal cost. Sometimes cheap is too cheap. Spending a bit more delivers a more effective outcome.
My understanding is it was required for any access to internal OFFICIAL marked info, I.e. getting a Bader login?
I do think it could be streamlined though, like why on earth does it need a paper handwritten form with references wet signatures? I’m sure there’s a slicker way it could be done
That and so much info is repeated. It’s the biggest thing that slows down applicants. For many of them, it’s a genuine battle finding people to sign everything off physically.
Even the same form but digital would save loads of time.
Sorry, by 'needed’, I meant actually needed, rather that what was simply required by someones say so.
I’m really struggling to imagine what great interest the SVR or GRU might have in BADER, especially when the RAF puts the names of its fast jet pilots in the sides of its aircraft, and I’d bet serious money that the person within RAF/MOD who decreed that you needed a BPSS to be in the same room as an open BADER account has a LinkedIn page that specifies their current role and DV status…
That would certainly be my preference! I know when I first got a VP login the suite of permissions initially given to a CI didn’t even include access to cadet profiles
I would like a recognised camping leader course. Like the scouts or guides do.
Maybe with bolt ons.
Which is a weekend or 2. Or just shorter than 6-8 months!
For very experienced staff that cant do Lel or Bel for medical reasons. IE maybe cant stay out overnight in the winter (which is discrimating.) As staff have to do.
But if someone can’t stay out overnight with the cadets, it’d be location dependent as to of they can be nearby to supervise.
Plus if a staff member isn’t sleeping in the same/similar conditions, how do you know when the weather conditions are too egregious for the cadets to camp in?
Plus there is the Mountain Training Camping Leader qualification which is a single weekend and then is widely recognised, rather than an internal qual like the scouts ‘nights away permit’ scheme (which also takes more than a weekend.?
