New register (V1) is now live, as a book!

All feedback welcome.

There are bits that obviously aren’t finished, but this allows me to get the official record with all the essential info that matters published in one place and available to the organisation.

It will likely be updated once per month, when a new grant is presented.

Watch this space for further interesting developments that I hope will improve the value proposition for units and demonstrate significant good will and desire to support.

That still goes to the error page!

This should work?

I think when you copy a link into Discourse, it probes the site for a thumbnail, which in turn breaks the link!

Ah that might explain it. Apologies for the dodgy link. Couldn’t work out what was wrong with it!

i like that there is a “formal” list of approved badges.

i also like that “rationale” is included - even if i cannot see any given. it is often the most interesting part of the badge is why it has been chosen, why is a duck and cross swords relevant to 123 (Anytown) unit?

That’s been a good part of our units badge going through the process.

The why is that in the crest, why is that included?

It’s been good to also put the justification down, as it’s all local knowledge…. And very easily lost.

Before long you won’t know why 123 Anytown) Sqn had the duck and crossed rifles. The knowledge of the victory in the 1974 armed duck race between 123 and 2789 Sqn, is lost forever when the crusty old WO who was a cadet leaves next year…..

This honestly can never be unseen.

when I finally got the blazon I was like “oooooooohhhhh. They’re still claws.”

This is the next big part of the project (alongside creating official digital badges and bespoke banner specifications for each unit).

Unfortunately, unless a unit still has the original email that gives the detail, I basically have to wait to see if it ever pops up.

I can’t accept a verbal explanation as this stuff gets corrupted immediately.

The deputy inspector has done so much for me (and it’s not her job), but it’s all on college computers / records, so i can’t even volunteer my time — has to be someone who works there etc.

I would love for you to do my old unit’s. There’s no way the College would let them keep any of it.

I’ve had a new influx of enquiries and would love to work with the unit, if they’re interested!

They won’t be. Because you’d take their badge off them.
