RAFAC Heraldic Badges

I don’t think dismissing a firm approach in that way is necessarily fair.

Don’t forget that a softly softly approach has been in effect and it has not worked well.

But it’s not a joined up approach with your project.
It’s also wildly optimistic and probably doomed to fail. Three weeks? To remove all branding, that will include things like clothing, maybe even paintings on walls or signs?

It’s silly, as it’s practically unenforceable and is going to be counter productive.

We’re talking about a draft document that’s not even been written by the person we’re aiming comments at.

Clearly whoever has produced the IBN hasn’t done their due diligence in consulting the right people here.

I think we’re back to talking about something that I haven’t seen and is in draft form.

But where the use of branding is concerned, didn’t someone above say removed from social media and websites etc?

That’s incredibly easy. While a shorter deadline may not be possible all around, it would have the benefit of focussing on the necessity of getting on with it asap.

There’s a link above I think, and a quote.

I know, if anything I’m sympathising with OC1324, as I think this idea poops all over his doorstep.

Also, it may have been a draft, but it’s been sent out by at least one part of the CoC, which means it’s now in force for them.

This is part of it

Classic RAFAC bad communication.

To be fair though, if you gave a longer period, how long is too long? People will still take a mile.

A jumper with gash branding could last a decade.

And in that time, it would continue to imply that this is ok and others would point at it, like they currently do unauthorised badges, and say “well they do it, so why should the rules apply to me?”.

This is why I personally think a hard reset is required. The longer we leave it for things to be done incorrectly, the worse it gets until eventually we’ll lose the privilege altogether.

Give people a year.

Write a new policy, accept what people are doing now might not be perfect, set a deadline. Give people time to make new jumpers, get a new website etc.

But also be clear if there’s anything that just outrageous then it needs gone ASAP.

The person who has drafted the IBN may still be doing their due diligence - it’s just been leaked too early.

Yeah, good point. I take that bit back.

The issue is that it’s been published by someone in the CoC too early.

Can’t be that due, if the HQAC projects officer in charge of a huge section of branding is completely unaware of it.

Actually, it’s been sent out as a draft presumably to enable feedback and engagement. You’re not making rules for a game that can be won lol

The bad communication I’m talking about is an OC Wing sending a draft document out to the whole Wing as though it’s policy.

If it was me, I’d get the Wings and Regions fully compliant before I even thought about Squadrons

It really hasn’t though. There’s been practically zero public discussion, outreach, encouragement, or PR for this.

That’s not a softly softly approach, that’s a stand off to the side and hope someone notices you approach.
