Your observation on the number of forms is probably due to the classic categorisation of military personnel and civil servants which was imported without any challenge or thought purely because " this is what we (the RAF) do". The added perceived complexity of VR(T) in the RAF but SNCOs &'CIs not will have had an influence. I , for one , agree entirely with your thrust - one form per task/ action.

Your further points on infrastructure and support are well made. I don’t think it would cost too much to introduce a sensible shift pattern to have one tech support individual available 7-9? Mon-Fri. It just requires the initial contract to be properly defined.

The DBS issues also illustrates lack of lateral thinking - but government service rarely encourages such dangerous activity.

Well, forms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 41, 60, 61, 80, 1771, GPF 1, GPF 10, HR 382, MOD 891, RAF 2970 and RAF 7101 all refer to payment or reimbursement of some sort…

There may be some room for simplification there.

New ACTO 35 (FLIGHTS IN NON SERVICE AIRCRAFT) as at 02 Feb.

AOC 22 Trg Gp has now endorsed recommendations in relation to cadet flying in non-service aircraft.

OC 2FTS is the Delivery Duty Holder for cadet aviation activities; therefore HQ 2FTS require oversight of all applications for non-service flights which should be forwarded a minimum of 10 days prior to activity for final authorisation as specified in the application process.

there are now 185 forms on SharePoint. There must be a department in HQAC producing more and more forms. How does this help with the admin reduction of the ATC. We are not even told what these new forms are for or why they were created or needed. :mad:

Excuse me if I am missing something with the New ACTO035 but:

in the old version were we not permitted to have Cadets fly by an individual…ie a single pilot rather than a “club”

ie a friend of the Sqn has a plane and is happy to offer passenger flying to the Cadets. providing all the required boxes were ticked said individual was on their way…
this new version seems to remove that option entirely…?

also Para 3c refers (in brackets) to exceptions at para 4b…none of paragraph 4 lists exceptions!! instead lists the allowable (persons)
so where do we find these exceptions?

this may be a bit picky now but Annex B para 2 line three “your child” should that not be “my child” given it is the parent signing it taking responsibilty?

“I consent…I fully…I agree…” yet it isn’t “my” child I am taking responsibility for but “yours”…?

If you were going to get picky about spelling, phrasing and grammar … you could be doing this for a while.

We lost count of the letters and so on from school (Primary to 6[sup]th[/sup] Form) that we were sorely tempted to return with red circles and the comment, “could do better”, as their spelling, grammar and just simple checking of details was attrocious.

Congratulations HQAC with reaching the magic 200 forms on SharePoint. To go from 145 to 201 in less than 3 months is a sterling effort. Well done to all at HQAC who should be rightly proud of this milestone.

these are forms…not ACPs/APs/ACTOs/etc but actually forms to fill in to pass information along the CoC for something?

whether that is claiming an award, requesting pay or a change of address??

The Admin Burden Increase Team has been doing well.

But is all part of the Civil Service, a group never knowingly to shy away from a form for the sake of a form.
