Better to stick the corporals in a room for 15 minutes.
Better to stick them on ebay and get a better set if you ask me! What kind of squadrons are people running out there?
I thought Corporals of the Third Reich were a universal concern. Most grow out of it after a few weeks thankfully.
We once had an SNCO (ATC) who tried to forcibly seperate the cadets and NCO’s at break by sliding the partition across the main hall and making us stand one side and the cadets on the other. Needless to say we thought it was ridiculous and quickly absconded back to our old ways.
We do have a sort of NCO room but it’s in a portacabin quite far from the main squadron building so it is barely ever used as an NCO room and is usually used as a classroom. The only thing that sets it apart as an NCO room is a set of pigeon holes for the NCO’s which to be fair are used quite a lot.
Personally I don’t see the need for an NCO room, there’s nothing wrong with socialising with the cadets!
sod an nco room, im the senior cadet nco on my sqn, we have a desk in the main hall, we have a computer and one chair, we work fine, any thing else just seems pointless to me, I have friends at other sqns and I know they don’t do half as much work as I do
Maybe you’d like to work at learning about punctuation and where capital letters go?
Gunner,
Do I sense a fellow member of the Grammar Gestapo in you. Lol?
Please be nice to new members!
Sorry pEp, understood.
I’m a teacher pEp - old habits die hard.
For those old enough to remember…

Gunner has a point - but it is the fault of many modern educators who fail from Primary school to pick up and correct basic errors, this then carries on to secondary and tertiary education (for some) and then the workplace. You probably wouldn’t be too surprised by the poor documents I’ve seen at work put together by some of the nations supposed bright young things.
Plus we now have the laziness engendered by mobile communications, adding to the mix of poor written language.
As for NCO rooms we had use of a classroom during break when I was a cadet and I offer the same to my NCOs.
Thread hijack I know but…
At Level 2, we’re told not to spend too much time correcting grammar and spelling. FGS, that’s GCSE level! If it isn’t corrected there - or earlier, then the kids have got no chance.
Awarding bodies only like us to come down heavily in those areas at Level 3 (A Level) standard. Sorry, I do it at all levels because otherwise, I’d feel I was abrogating my responsibility to the learners.
I’ve even taught mature, professional people at Levels 3 & 4 and looking through their work-based assignments and other submissions has often left me speechless. The overall standard of English is appalling. I also teach would-be teachers and believe me, I come down like a ton of bricks where grammar and spelling is concerned. I often knock submissions back because of that or lack of content where they’ve done (what they think) is the bare minimum to achieve the task.
That looks more like a thread kidnapping to me!
