All I can say is that if Jerusalem was chosen as the anthem I’d just be extra glad not being English.

@MikeJenvey Just drawing from the 6 Nations apart from “God save the Queen” (although there are some better verses to use) and the hymn used by the Welsh; the painful dirge “Flowers of Scotland”, jaunty pair “La Marseillaise” and “Il Canto degli Italiani”, and “Ireland’s Call” aren’t at all jingoistic. I have to admit to quite liking the French and Italian ones, as they have some life in them.
If the English were to pick an alternative English anthem, I would lean to Land of Hope and Glory.
Just need to be sure whatever we might have as an English anthem it doesn’t hark back to our colonial history or similar. Although bringing up their history etc doesn’t seem to be a problem in other countries.
