Again off the aircraft theme, but I once visited the Museum of Childhood in Carmarthen.

Looking it up, they’re now Broad Acres Toy Collection in Wisbech, but I can’t clearly see that they have a static exhibition any more. It was a really cool place.

On the aircraft theme, I support the votes for FAAM and helimuseum. The latter used to have a presence at Weston Air Festival, which when it ran was a worthwhile trip along the M5.

Shame the air show was killed off.

Couldn’t get tickets but we did go to one of the operator depot open days. Which was genuinely fascinating.

The air museum at Newark Showground is excellent, especially the Vulcan where you can climb up into the crew area and cockpit.

Sorry, but the words cool and Wisbech don’t normally appear in the same paragraph, nor should they.

Well, it’s imported coolness, so…

They were also brilliant at helping 2433 (Thanet) Squadron with temporary home.

as we’re allowed to offer non aviation themes…

Devon Railway Centre

I was there (Devon) recently and we thought it would tick the box as a day out with Steve Junior - i was expecting a “typical railway museum” but was pleasantly surprised.

there are two different gauge railways to ride (free) , a separate drive your own train ride for kids only (Steve Junior loved that as you can imagine) £1/ride there are three vintage carriages sign posted as a “museum” but are actually 14x different model railway layouts, all distinctly different and the best part they are interactive, with a “push here” button to send the train on that display move along the layout (another one Steve Junior loved).

upon arrival it doesn’t look much, but we filled the day and one of the best days of the holiday we had
